The Coalition is ramping up the development of Gears of War and is looking to add staff to the team.
A new job posting on Microsoft’s careers website states that the first-party studio is looking to “forge the future of the IP and push the limits of Microsoft’s entertainment platforms and devices.”
As far as what The Coalition is looking for, the job posting states that the team is searching for those with experience in a few specific areas.
“We are searching for candidates with experience in Character, Camera and Controls (3Cs), or artificial intelligence (AI) systems,” the posting reads.
It continues: “You have experience owning large scale features and guiding them from initial concept through to polish and completion. You will drive implementation of your design through collaboration across disciplines.”
It’s not specifically mentioned that the position being hired for is for the next installment of the Gears of War franchise. However, it could be assumed that work is being done on Gears of War 6 as the franchise has yet to make its proper debut on the Xbox Series X|S.
The last game in the franchise, Gears 5, launched in 2019 for Xbox One. However, it did get optimized for the latest consoles after those were launched in 2020.
The next installment of the franchise is expected to be built in Unreal Engine 5 based on prior comments by The Coalition back in 2021.
Insider Gaming has reached out to Microsoft and The Coalition for comment on if this is for Gears of War 6 or a spinoff title. Should a response be received, the story will be updated accordingly.
