During Bandai Namco’s latest earnings call, the publisher announced Tekken 8 could launch in 2023.
One investor, who asked Bandai Namco if the company had any games releasing in 2023 that provides a “new experience value” like Elden Ring received the response, “We are planning a large number of projects. Tekken 8 is also under development with the aim of launching in fiscal 2023 or later.”
The response indicates that Tekken 8 will release sometime after March 31, 2023.
Unfortunately, Tekken releases have been fairly sporadic over the years, released in different months in their respective years. Tekken 7 was released in June, whereas Tekken 6 was released in October, which implies there isn’t a trend (like Call of Duty releasing in the holidays every year) of when we can expect Tekken 8.
Tekken 8 was officially announced in September, with its end card saying “Stay tuned”.
The official website reads that the game “brings the fight to the new generation”.
In addition, the website reads, “Powered by Unreal Engine 5 and exclusively available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC Digital, TEKKEN 8 pushes the limits of new-gen hardware and technologies.”
“The game features high-definition character models built from the ground-up with high-fidelity skin and hair, along with immersive graphics such as muscles that shift to reflect character movement.”
“The TEKKEN series holds the record of being the longest-running story in a video game franchise. Just as the ending dialogue of Tekken 7 mentioned, this new entry will focus on the father-and-son showdown between Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama”, it concludes.
