Team BDS has announced it is pulling out of the Rocket League Championship Series, the topmost tournament in the game’s esports ecosystem. The organisation stressed that it’s not removing itself from the Rocket League competitive scene entirely, but it’s making an adjustment that will take ‘into account the economic realities of Rocket League’.
From Champs to This
Team BDS was one of the most impactful organisations in the RLCS. In 2022 and 2024 (just weeks ago), the team won the RLCS World Championship, and in 2023, the squad wound up in second place. Elsewhere, Team BDS has claimed the top spot in many regional events and majors, netting a whopping $2.6 million in earnings and becoming one of the winningest organisations in Rocket League.
In a post on social media, the team made a shocking revelation, confirming that it’s withdrawing from the tournament it just won.
Today, Team BDS is reviewing its position and investment in the competitive Rocket League scene. After thorough analysis and careful consideration, we have decided to adjust our resources and priorities for this game, taking into account the economic realistic of Rocket League and the resources allocated by the publisher to the esports scene.
To that end, the organisation’s players have been dismissed. However, it’s not the end of the line for Team BDS:
We remain committed to Rocket League, which is part of the DNA of Team BDS, by staying in the competitive scene on one hand, and by launching our own tournament during this offseason on the other.
Team BDS will host a tournament called ‘Take the Throne’ in Geneva, Switzerland on November 23.
It’s not goodbye from Team BDS, but it is a monumental change. It has been a solid four years for Team BDS in the RLCS, but this latest news confirms rumours that started circulating a couple of weeks ago.
