According to a new PlayStation blog, Tales of Kenzera: Zau is officially coming to the PS Plus catalog on April 23rd. It will be available with PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium memberships.
Surgent Studios developed Tales of Kenzera: Zau. Renowned gaming actor Abubakar Salim, known for their work in Assassin’s Creed, founded the indie studio. So, there’s a lot of hype around the 2.5D metroidvania.
Most recently, an Xbox Partner Preview showcase teased the title in March with a new gameplay trailer. PlayStation fans will surely be pleased that it’s coming to PS Plus at launch.
PlayStation Plus can always use more day one launches and indie gems like Tales of Kenzera: Zau. It is definitely the type of day one release that PlayStation needs to really compete with other subscription services.
Likewise, joining the service will surely help Tales of Kenzera: Zau reach more casual players.
The game has built a lot of buzz since rumors first surfaced in December 2023. Tales of Kenzera: Zau is a personal project from Abubakar Salim, and deals with serious themes like grief.
Players are certain to connect with Salim’s genuine passion, and the distinct cultural influence really makes the lore stand out.
PlayStation’s blog explains that the protagonist “seeks out Kalunga, the God of Death, to bargain with him to bring his Baba back from the realm of the dead”. Various trailers show off unique abilities like Spirit Attacks.
PlayStation also recently announced other titles coming to PS Plus this April.
These include Immortals of Aveum, Minecraft Legends, and Skul: The Hero Slayer. Although Immortals of Aveum launched to mixed reviews, it does offer a new AAA option for PS Plus subscribers.
