Is Stormgate Free-to-Play? – Answered

The world desperately needs a new, big-budget, real-time strategy game. The genre, while doing well within its niche community, doesn’t obtain the level of hype or player base it deserves, like in days long gone. Do you remember Company of Heroes and StarCraft 2 after school each day? We need that level of hype. In steps Stormgate, an upcoming next-gen RTS promising us the world. So, is Stormgate free-to-play?

Can You Play Stormgate Free?

While Stormgate is billed as a free-to-play game, to take advantage of the distinct lack of a price tag, you must remain patient. If you want to play on its “release date” of July 30, then you must pay for one of the game’s Early Access Packs. But more on that momentarily!

Once the game leaves its early preview period, sometime in early- to mid-August, then everyone can download the game at no additional cost. As such, if you want a free RTS, then wait a little longer. It’s coming!

What’s Included in the Stormgate Early Access Packs?

There are three available Early Access Packs in Stormgate, with increasing price tags associated with each tier. The more expensive the pack, the more benefits you receive.
