Starfield is officially out in full release for PC and Xbox Series X|S, and there is still some division over it being an Xbox console exclusive. While many still think that the game should’ve also been released on PlayStation 5, Bethesda executive producer and director Todd Howard isn’t one of them.
In an interview with the BBC, Howard said that Starfield being an exclusive allowed Bethesda to create an overall better game for players.
“When you’re making something exclusive then the more you can focus,” he said. “You know this is the hardware or the thing people are playing on, so the ability to focus on that always yields a better product.

Howard added that the company, obviously, wants as many people to play Starfield as possible. But even as an Xbox console exclusive, he expects the game’s launch to be one of Bethesda’s best.
“You do want people to be able to access it of course,” he said. “But being with Xbox means there is an ease of access for us and I’m told we’re expecting more people playing this launch than anything we’ve ever done before and that’s despite the success of our previous games.”
