Star Wars Outlaws Switch 2 Port Reportedly Performed ‘Poorly’ Ahead of Launch

Star Wars Outlaws is scheduled to release for the Switch 2 on September 4, 2025, and just days ahead of launch, the game’s performance might not be up to standard.

Star Wars Outlaws for the Nintendo Switch 2 was announced during the Partner Showcase on July 31. Outlaws will be the first Ubisoft game to arrive for the new console. However, a new report reveals that the game’s performance is not the best, even with the release less than a week away.

Star Wars Outlaws Switch 2 Framerate Dropped Several Times Below 30FPS

Spotted by GameRant, GVG was present at PAX West 2025, where they were able to try Star Wars Outlaws for the Switch 2. Their new YouTube video states that Nintendo had all the games from Gamescom 2025 on display at PAX West 2025, with the only exception being Star Wars Outlaws. They were able to test the Star Wars Outlaws at this event, but were not allowed to capture any gameplay footage of the demo version.

GVG was not allowed even to have over-the-shoulder cameras to record footage; the only option was to play it and discuss it. Once, they played Star Wars Outlaws on the Switch 2, and it was evident that the performance was “kind of rough.” The video adds that Star Wars Outlaws runs “pretty poorly on the Switch 2.”

The demo only featured close sequences that included a Star Destroyer and a space fight. No open-world sequences were available, and even in the closed sequences, the framerate dropped below 30fps several times. The video clarifies that there was no way to analyse the drops as no footage was recorded, but the drops felt significant.

In other news, the Star Wars Jedi main character is making his TV debut next month. Also, Ubisoft cancelled a Star Wars Outlaws sequel “very, very early.” What are your thoughts on Star Wars Outlaws Switch 2 port performing poorly ahead of launch?
