Star Wars Outlaws was plagued with issues at launch, some of which led Ubisoft to make drastic tweaks. It wasn’t well received by the general market, and gamers worldwide have been giving it pretty low scores. It comes as no surprise to learn that in an entire month on the shelves, Star Wars Outlaws has sold just one million copies.
It’s not as many sales as Ubisoft expected, which explains the recent comments about the game’s performance proving ‘softer than expected’. It’s also partly why Assassin’s Creed Shadows was considerably delayed, being pushed back from November 2024 to February 2025.
Even The Force Can’t Help
Insider Gaming hasn’t been able to learn what the expected sales figure was for Star Wars Outlaws, but we have secured a current sales figure from sources close to the game. At the time of writing, Star Wars Outlaws has just ticked over one million sales worldwide.
To put that into perspective, we reported in January 2024 that three months after Assassin’s Creed Mirage had hit the market, it had secured five million sales.
In early trailers and demos, Star Wars Outlaws impressed gamers excited to explore a vast, open-world environment as a new character following an original story. As time wore on, the sentiment around the game wavered somewhat, and gameplay videos released close to the launch of the game failed to fill consumers with a sense of anticipation.
On social, content, and streaming platforms, the buzz around Star Wars Outlaws dried up pretty quickly, and all that was left was a string of clips posted to social media showcasing the game’s poor stealth sequences and bugs. This is the kind of thing that Ubisoft moved to patch up not long after launch, but the damage was done.
In thirty days on the market, Star Wars Outlaws has sold just one million copies — and it’s not expected that it’ll shift many more.

Well, is no one factoring in Ubi+ on Xbox and PC? Of course sales are going to be soft if you give people the option to buy it at least 3x cheaper, along with other games. Could very well be self-cannibalism in terms of sales, like Xbox and Game Pass. Would love it if IG would shed some light.
1,000,001 as soon as I get off work
For as much negative there is about the game, there’s just as much positive.
“Not expected to shift anymore” – what utter nonsense.
JP Morgan originally told investors that Outlaws would have 7.5 million units sold by March 2025 – that was downgraded to 5.5 million by March based on current sales figures.
We still have Steam release to come also.
This isn’t just a disappointment, it’s a sales disaster. For a:
1) triple A
2) open-world
3) Star Wars game
to sell only a million in 30 days? If it wasn’t for Concord, this would be the flop of the year.
Oh and the Ubi+ argument doesn’t hold. The service has been around for years and still AC Odyssey, Valhalla and FC6 sold over 10 million.
RIP Ubisoft.
Ubisoft is a leader in the AAA(A) gaming industry and is still #1…starting from the bottom.
When it comes to Steam the numbers will be better. I don’t get the hate for the game. As an OG Star Wars fan, this is as close as I’ve gotten to feeling like being in a Star Wars film. The quests are great, the characters are fun, I love the Syndicate system and the environments are mind blowing. There’s so much there to explore. I also don’t get the hours of playtime and content people are listing. I have over 60 hours in the game and I’ve barely even touched two of the worlds yet. It’s been fun just exploring and doing side quests. I even like the card game. If I had one complaint it would be that space combat is a pain and really needs a lot of tweaking. I got it for free with my new computer so unfortunately I can only play it on Ubigarabage launcher, but I’ll probably get it on a deep sale on Steam so I can try the DLC if it gets decent reviews.
Bro, they literally make billions of dollars a year. They aren’t even close to RIP. Once the game is on Steam the sales will grow.
There’s a simple reason. No Steam, no buy. I don’t use Epic and I won’t use Ubisoft’s launcher. It’s Steam and GOG or bust.
The reason I haven’t purchased yet is because, as what seems to be the norm now, they’ve been advertising Season Passes before it’s even released. And because I have so many games to get through, I’m happy to wait a year or two when it’s half price and an actual complete game.
