Star Wars Outlaws Can Be Completed in 30 Hours

It’s great news for Star Wars fans with a critical work-life balance: Star Wars Outlaws will be just 30 hours in length. That’s still a substantial amount of meat on those sci-fi bones, but it’s slim enough that even the hardest-working individual could complete it in a few weeks. That’s the news from Julian Gerighty, the creative director working on the game at Ubisoft.

He also stressed that even for a completionist ticking every box possible, the game’s lifespan (pre-DLC, I guess) will last around 60 hours.

Still Plenty to Do

It’s assumed that there’s lots of content wrapped up in Star Wars Outlaws, but perhaps not the suffocating amount you’d find in a game like Assassin’s Creed. That’s the gist of what Gerighty was saying when he spoke to VGC recently, anyway. He promised that Outlaws won’t offer a swollen, oversaturated experience like Assassin’s Creed, but instead, it’ll be a more manageable title – and that was a very deliberate decision by the developer.

Very early on, we decided this is going to be a 25, 30 hours golden path adventure, 50 hours, 60 hours for completionists, and that is, for a guy with a family and a job, it’s still a fair amount of time.

In his interview, Gerighty outlined some creative amendments that were made to Outlaws early on. For instance, the team had to cut swimming mechanics from the title, but in exchange, they brought in playable minigames – which are sure to be a hit with Star Wars fans worldwide.

Star Wars Outlaws is due to hit platforms on August 30, with a couple of narrative-based expansions set to launch sometime after.
