The first full trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has been released ahead of its release later this year.
The new trailer, which you can watch below, gives everyone an overview of the movie’s premise. It also shows the first look at the debuting Shadow the Hedgehog, voiced by Keanu Reeves.
As you can see in the trailer, Shadow is the main nemesis in the upcoming movie. It even gets to the point where Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles go to Dr. Robotnik, played once again by Jim Carrey, for help. We also see the debut of Carrey as Gerald Robotnik, Eggman’s grandfather.
What we don’t see in the trailer is whether or not Dr. Robotnik and Shadow ultimately team up at any point in the film. In the various games, they have worked side by side.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 releases in theaters on December 20.

Making Gerald a joke character and him not being dead seems stupid. Also Christopher Lloyd should have played him. Please give Shadow his guns and I hope Rouge is in this voiced by Krysten Ritter would be fine. We don’t need Amy at all and no Metal Sonic either. After this bring in Silver and Blaze and set up 06, Chaos also works and Black Doom.
Please Sega give us a season 4 of Sonic X, Shiro Maekawa writing Sonic Adventure 3, a new Sonic Riders, Adventure 1 & 2 remade, and a Platinum Games developed Shadow game also fire Ian Flynn and Aaron Webber and bring back the 4Kids dub cast.
The CGI looks so much better somehow it looks amazing! But Gerald being the way he is just doesn’t sit right having Carey play him and Eggman is a weird move and him not being dead takes away from the source material. But that leaves the question who’s next? There’s only 2 options Chaos or Silver. Silver is my favorite Sonic character and with this level of CGI he’d look awesome and I’d love for Jeff Fowler to readapt Sonic 06. Maybe they’ll have Silver and Blaze be Shadow’s team in the movies?
