Bloober Team did a wonderful job with the Silent Hill 2 Remake. It faithfully lifted a lot of the old content and gave it an incredible makeover. Now, Konami and NeoBards Entertainment are moving ahead with Silent Hill f, but its gameplay stylings are a little different.
Silent Hill f is the next mainline entry in the franchise. It has the tough task of following on the 2024 Silent Hill 2 Remake. Aside from being heavily requested, one reason for the remake is likely due to how poorly later entries were received. Silent Hill f is looking to turn this narrative on its head, and combat could be the way to do so.
Expect Silent Hill f to be More Aggressive and Action-Based

According to VGC, producer Motoi Okamoto has said Silent Hill f: “Features unique combat.
Okamoto elaborates on this: “The encounters are as challenging as the obstacles that Hinako must overcome in life. The combat will have a heavier focus on melee and be more action-oriented compared to last year’s Silent Hill 2.”
Now, this might be alarm bells for certain players. One of the criticisms aimed at the series, particularly from Silent Hill 3 onwards, was the shift toward combat over puzzles—mirroring Resident Evil’s journey.
Later games tried to steer the series back to its roots. With Silent Hill 2 Remake nailing the puzzle and exploration element, Silent Hill f feels like another step in the direction of brawn over brains.
