Like in other popular survival games, Duckside features several resources that you require if you want to craft any of the good items, like shotguns and body armor. You really do need those to survive, as other ducks will mess you up. Here’s how to scrap in Duckside to push mid- and end-game!
How Scrapping Works in Duckside
Like in Rust, you scrap unwanted junk items in Duckside by finding one of the many recycling machines around the map. They’re often found near points of interest, like a watch tower or by the merchant, and look like a large green piece of machinery with the recycling logo on the side.
Once you find the recycler, walk up to it and interact with it using ‘F.’ You’ll see the menu in the screenshot above. You’ll want to drag items from your inventory in the center to the recycler on the left-hand side. You’ll want to leave space for crafting components that pop out, taking up a single slot each in the recycler.
Do not forget to drag these materials back to your inventory! Otherwise, you risk someone else taking your hard-earned crafting materials.

Why You Should Scrap Materials
There are various tiers of crafting materials in Duckside. You have your absolute essential items, like Wood and Stone, and then there are Metal Fragments, for instance, that you require for better crafting recipes. You can’t find all the crafting resources in the environment, though.
As you smash barrels and boxes, you’ll receive junk items, like drills and saws, which you can sell to the merchant for feathers or scrap in the recycler. It’s a trade-off. You need feathers to unlock better crafting blueprints, but you also need the scrap materials to craft better equipment.
