It’s taken just two days since the announcement of the PS5 Pro for scalpers to try and ruin things for everyone else. On Wednesday, it was noticed that the PS5 Disc Drive was selling out at online retailers like Best Buy and Amazon. Now, just another day later, scalpers are attempting to make profit on the PS5 Disc Drive requirement.
If you want to play physical discs on your PS5 Pro, you need the external disc drive. While it normally costs $79.99, scalpers have already taken to eBay to try and extort players for extra price.
Some have listed the drive for as much as $200 + shipping. Others are lower, but still too high at $120. All of it being done in an attempt to convince people that this is the only way to get one of the drives.
Will it work? Unlikely. A source at Sony who spoke on the condition of anonymity tells Insider Gaming that the company expects to have no issues with supply of the PS5 Pro or the disc drive moving forward as the launch of the new console approaches and passes.
As of writing, you can still get the drive at PS Direct, GameStop, and Walmart.
