A new job posting suggests that an upcoming Respawn Star Wars game could feature multiplayer. The studio behind Titanfall, Apex Legends, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is currently working on a new Star Wars first-person shooter title. With development ramping up on the game, it makes sense that job postings would start to appear.
The specific post, which is for a Senior Gameplay Software Engineer, states that it’s for the studio’s “Star Wars FPS team”. While it’s nothing out of the ordinary for a developer posting, there is one line that stands out. Under the “Desired Qualifications” section, it specifically states that the new employee has experience working on a multiplayer game.
While that doesn’t necessarily confirm the existence of multiplayer in the game, it does lead to the belief that it will be there in some way.
What Is The New Respawn Star Wars Game?
Announced back in 2022, the Star Wars FPS was talked about as being more of a single-player-driven game. That said, multiplayer components could come in the form of either PvP or PvE modes, whether at launch or via a post-release update. The game is also being built in Unreal Engine 5.
“Working with Lucasfilm Games on a new FPS in the Star Wars galaxy is a dream come true for me, as this is a story I have always wanted to tell,” said Peter Hirschmann, game director at Respawn, back when it was first announced.
With Star Wars Jedi: Survivor the current game closest to release from Respawn, it’s unlikely we get any more information on the FPS title relatively soon. That said, it’s nice to see that things seem to be continuing forward for the Star Wars franchise.
