Capcom recently presented a gameplay showcase for the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem, releasing on February 27, 2026. Leon Kennedy’s return takes center stage in the footage, and his gameplay should make fans of Resident Evil 4 very excited.
The showcase began with game director Koshi Nakanishi jokingly saying he never said Leon wouldn’t be in the game, then he broke down the gameplay styles of co-protagonists Leon and Grace. It was reported that Grace’s parts would be more focused on horror, similar to Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 7. However, Leon’s gameplay is much more action-focused, just like it was when he was the lead character in Resident Evil 4 two decades ago. Footage then showed Leon kicking all kinds of zombie ass, shooting them in the kneecaps, and slashing their throats. Also, he has a hatchet that will be used to parry attacks.
It was also confirmed that the game will follow Leon after the events of Resident Evil 6, with a tease that he will likely be pushed to his absolute limits this time and that players should be attentive to how that plays out.
Other Announcements in the Showcase
This showcase revealed that the game will be available on the Nvidia GeForce Now subscription service, in addition to PlayStation, Nintendo, and Xbox platforms. Additionally, for players who want a less intense experience, there will be a casual gameplay difficulty level.
Also, the Porsche vehicle Leon drives was spotlighted during the presentation, along with some of the watches featured in the game. There was then a recap of the deluxe content coming to the game, an exclusive Nintendo Switch 2 controller, and a tease of future Amiibo products.
