The next game coming from Capcom in the Resident Evil franchise won’t be Resident Evil 9. Instead, the studio is working on remakes of Resident Evil Code Veronica and Resident Evil Zero.
According to notable leaker Dusk Golem, both titles have been in development and will be the next games to release.
“I’ve talked to many others behind the scenes about this at this point, it’s something I heard over a year ago, think it was going to get out whether I was the one to say it or not, & that’s about it,” they said.
Released originally for the Sega Dreamcast in 2000, Code Veronica was the first game in the series to release on a different platform before coming to PlayStation. Zero also released on a different platform first, launching in 2002 for the Nintendo GameCube as an exclusive. It eventually made it’s way to Xbox, PlayStation, and PC in 2016.
Insider Gaming has reached out to Capcom on the reports, and will update this story should a response be received.
