Recently, Take-Two Interactive posted a Q2 financial update, showcasing the company’s performance, updating investors on the state of play in a financial sense, and letting everyone know how its games are getting on. It was revealed as part of the presentation that was shared that Red Dead Redemption 2 has sold over 57 million units since launching in 2018, which is an increase of 2 million copies quarter-on-quarter.
As time goes on, it seems that Red Dead Redemption 2 is unrelenting.
Long Live Red Dead
In the update presentation, it was stated that, as a franchise, Red Dead Redemption has sold some 81 million units worldwide to date. It was then stated that in the past five years – based on dollar sales – Red Dead Redemption 2 is the ‘second best-selling title’ in the United States.
By comparison, the report made it clear that GTA 5 had sold around five million copies between the two quarters, pushing the franchise to over 410 million sales in total and making it the best-selling game of the past ten years in the United States.
Despite ongoing concerns that Rockstar Games is slowly abandoning Red Dead Online, it seems that the game itself remains quite popular – even five years after it was released.
