PlayStation’s Crunchyroll anime hub launches on PS5 in spring 2027, connecting anime discovery, anime-inspired games, and app access. This news comes from a Variety report, which notes that Sony hopes to make it easier for the anime and gaming communities to enjoy what they love on the PlayStation 5.
This follows Sony’s introduction of a live TV offering on its PlayStation 5. That service offers more than 100 channels.
Crunchyroll Gets Dedicated PlayStation 5 Home-Screen Hub in 2027

At Crunchyroll’s Anime Future Forum, PlayStation CEO Hideaki Nishino announced the new PlayStation 5 anime hub. At the same event, Sony also unveiled its new Crunchyroll Storyworks division. Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini touted the forthcoming expansion as a way to better serve its audience by meeting them where they already are.
“From Crunchyroll membership on PlayStation to the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima: Legends anime series,” Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini said. “Today, we take that partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment one step further with an anime hub on PlayStation. Serving fans means meeting them where they already are.”
At this time, the exact launch date of the new anime hub on PS5 is unknown. Insider Gaming will continue to monitor the story and report any updates as more information becomes available.
