The Pokémon World Championships 2025 closing ceremony took place in Anaheim following the conclusion of competitions, which, as usual, included several reveals for the franchise.
In the closing ceremony, announcements were made concerning upcoming games, including Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Pokémon Champions, existing titles, like Pokémon TCG Pocket, alongside reveals for the physical TCG.

Everything Announced at Pokémon World Championships 2025 Closing Ceremony
Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Tera Raids and Mass Outbreaks

The latest Tera Raid Battle event is now live in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, pitting players against Shiny Ting-Lu with the Ice Tera Type. While it cannot be captured, the Pokémon will be distributed to all players from September 5 if it is defeated over one million times.
Also live in the game is the new Mass Outbreak event, featuring Paldean Wooper in Paldea, Mudbray in Kitakami, and Drilbur in the Blueberry Academy. Each has increased odds of being shiny.
Both events end on August 31 at 23:59 UTC.
Three New Additions For Pokémon Unite
The next three Pokémon joining the Pokémon Unite roster were announced, starting with Empoleon on September 19. It will be followed by Dhelmise and Vaporeon at a later date.
Pokémon Go Max Raid Battles Expanded
Those in attendance at the Pokémon World Championships 2025 were the first to be able to encounter Eternatus in a special Max Battles event, along with Timed Research, ahead of the full debut in the game later this year.
It was also announced that, starting with GO Fest Max Finale, Max Battles will be able to hold a total of 100 players in groups of four.
New TCG Cards Revealed
A new TCG set was revealed, featuring Mega Charizard ex. Arts for Mega Charizard, Mega Gardevoir, and Mega Lucario were shown off, with a new rarity called Mega Attack Rares. Mega Dragonite was also confirmed for the physical TCG.
Full details on the set were not shown, though the set numbers in Japanese suggest the cards will debut in Mega Dream Ex, releasing in Japan in November.

Pokémon XP Event in 2026
At the Pokémon World Championships 2026 in San Francisco, a Pokémon XP event will take place in the city. It was also confirmed that the Pokémon World Championships will be held at the Chase Center.
Pokémon Champions to Feature in 2026 VGC Format
A big change is coming to VGC in Pokémon, with confirmation that the 2026 World Championships will be competed in the upcoming title, Pokémon Champions. The Omni-Ring, used for Mega Evolution, was revealed, along with symbols for Z-Moves and Teastallisation.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A Battle Club
A new mode was revealed for Pokémon Legends: Z-A called the Z-A Battle Club, where four players compete in a time limit to defeat as many of their opponents’ Pokémon as possible. The mode will support ranked and casual play, with additional confirmation of online features in the title.
