The Pokémon Company has revealed a new product due to release later this year, with the animatronic Pikachu being the closest thing you can get to a real-life Pocket Monster.
Pikachu, the iconic face of the Pokémon brand, has been adored for over three decades since the franchise first debuted, and a new product will be released this year that is the closest thing available to having a real Pikachu.
Animatronic Pikachu Revealed at Pokémon EUIC
During a press and creator event at the Pokémon EUIC in London, where Insider Gaming was among the attendees, the Pokémon Company showed several brand-new products, the most eye-catching of which is an animatronic Pikachu, created by Real FX’s Puppetronics brand.
The Pikachu features controllable eyes, ears, and mouth, via puppet-like controls, and comes equipped with over 120 sounds and expressions. There are also sensors on the face and stomach, reacting to contact.
An initial release will take place at The Pokémon Center online, which includes a certificate of authenticity and 1st edition detailing, before a wider release at other stores.
The recommended retail price for the animatronic Pikachu will be £89.99, but international pricing details were not shared at the event and will come at a later date.
Other products revealed at Pokémon EUIC include Pokémon-branded pet products, including a dog bed and water bowl, along with a range of plushies that are the international version of Japan’s Little Daydream line, featuring Wooper, Munchlax, Charmander, Togepi, and Pichu.
