PlayStation VR2 PC Adapter is Coming August 7, 2024

PlayStation VR2 PC Adapter

In a new post on Twitter/X today, Sony announced that the PlayStation VR2 PC adapter will officially launch on August 7, 2024.

In the corresponding blog from PlayStation, Sony also mentioned that the anticipated PC adapter will have an estimated retail price of $59.99. It will be available “at select retailers and direct.playstation.com where available.”

This news shortly follows reports of Sony’s certification license for the adapter, which surfaced last week.

Today’s blog also reveals what users will need for the adapter. This includes a DisplayPort cable that works with DisplayPort 1.4, a Steam account, and a PC that meets minimum requirements.

Some of those requirements will include 8 GB of RAM, an Intel Core i5-7600 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100, and a USB direct connection. And although the adapter was built for PlayStation 5, some key features are absent when you play on PC. Some examples include headset feedback and adaptive triggers.

The blog further warned fans that “performance may vary depending on your PC setup” and individual SteamVR title requirements.

In August, the new PlayStation PC adapter will give fans access to Steam’s extensive library of VR games. That includes titles such as Half-Life: Alyx, Fallout 4 VR, and more.

Most recently, Sony also held a massive State of Play showcase that teased over a dozen games coming to the PlayStation 5.
