PlayStation Teases Death Stranding 2 Event & More For Tokyo Game Show 2024

In a new blog post, PlayStation revealed some of its plans for Tokyo Game Show 2024 such as a Death Stranding 2 stage event, booth titles, scheduling, and more.

Sony confirmed that this year’s booth will feature Astro Bot and Monster Hunter Wilds. Although the former launches in early September 2024, before the Tokyo Game Show itself, Monster Hunter Wilds doesn’t release until 2025.

PlayStation will have a giant functioning gacha machine, inspired by the upcoming Astro Bot game. There will also be 40 units of Monster Hunter Wilds at the booth, with a limited supply of acrylic keychains for guests.

Most recently, Capcom revealed an all-new Monster Hunter Wilds gameplay trailer as part of Gamescom’s Opening Night Live.

Astro Bot PS5 Controller

Loosely translated from today’s blog, PlayStation also announced the “Death Stranding 2 Special Stage” presentation.

This will feature director Hideo Kojima and Daichi Miura, as well as a few guests. PlayStation will host Death Stranding 2 Special Stage beginning at 10:30 on September 29, 2024.

Most recently, Kojima teased a new character coming to Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, possibly involving actor Kenjiro Tsuda.

PlayStation also plans to reveal more playable titles and events coming to Tokyo Game Show 2024 at a later date. TGS 2024 will kick off on September 26, 2024, and this year’s theme is “Trailblaze the World with Gaming.”

  • Will anything of value be at TGS? They’re building this up as a big show. Kingdom Hearts 4, Jump Force 2, the new Arc System Works Shonen Jump fighter will those be here? Hunter X Hunter Nen X Impact release date which I honestly think should have been revealed before this show, Virtua Fighter 6, Dead Or Alive 7 with Itagaki returning would be something, the new Platinum Ninja Gaiden, new Capcom titles, or will this be another dud like the others?

  • No one cares about DS2 that game will flop harder than the first one because now everyone knows it’s literally a boring walking simulator. Monster Hunter Wilds looks like a 360 game and I guess Astro Bit looks cool but it’s not really too big a deal. Is there anything cool here like Sparking Zero GT/Z/OGDB/movies/SDBH DLC, KH4, Arc System Shonen Jump VS game, anything because it just seems dead right now. Maybe Sega comes out with P6 but I don’t think I’d be hype for that.

  • What else will be at TGS because this is a snooze fest. This is supposed to be the biggest one but nothing is hype about this. Is Death Stranding supposed to bring all the hype? Death Stranding sucks honestly I see why people hate Kojima it’s clear other people made the good games he was tied to like Fukushima.

  • Anything else? Will Kingdom Hearts 4 finally show up here? Arc System Works Jump FighterZ, Sonic Adventure remake, Nintendo Switch 2, Power Stone 3, Bloody Roar return, Shenmue 4, Silent Hill f, Castlevania, Otogi remake, Tenchu, Viewtiful Joe 3, Scalebound, MegaMan Legends 3 I really don’t see what makes this show the biggest?

  • After all the recent turmoil and now this flop of a game is coming Sony might want to sell PlayStation off now because when this fails they will be in for a ride awakening and it will be worse.

  • Will anyone else be there? Like Koei Tecmo? Usually TGS is mid but they’re hyping this show as the biggest one yet so will anyone else be there? Square hasn’t shown KH4 yet so where’s that? KT said Ninja Gaiden and DOA were getting new games I trust Platinum with Ninja Gaiden but without Itagaki DOA is dead. Maybe VF6 finally shows up. But this still seems like a lame list outside KH4.
