Nearly a week after announcing it was ending the production of physical game discs in January 2028, PlayStation is back with its first public comments.
On Tuesday, the company took to social media to make its first post since July 1, and it had nothing to do with the decision.
Want To Fight?
Rather than address the concerns of fans regarding the end of physical games, PlayStation decided to promote its FlexStrike wireless fight stick to the masses.
“Switch out lever gates with ease on the FlexStrike wireless fight stick,” the post said, with a link to the product’s page for pre-order.

As you’d expect, the post was met with immediate backlash. Not only were there a number of proposed community notes within minutes, but the replies all focused on the company ending physical games.
“I know your PR strategy for over 20 years has been to sit things out and ignore noise, but something tells me that won’t work this time,” said Klobrille.
Said another user, “So after a 5 day hiatus, this is what y’all post? Crazy work.”
PlayStation has yet to address the backlash surrounding its decision to end its production of physical games. A Change.org petition called the “Don’t Kill the Disc” has amassed over 173,000 signatures as of writing, and even first-party studios have taken jabs at the decision.
