Phantom Blade Zero Trophy & Achievement Guide

Phantom Blade Zero, S-Game’s ambitious action title, is now available. While it leans more toward the hack-and-slash genre, the game also incorporates some soulslike elements, including side quests that can be missed and, as a result, missable trophies.

To make your journey easier, we’ve put together a complete Phantom Blade Zero Trophy & Achievement Guide. With this guide, you’ll be able to earn 100% completion, avoid missing any trophies, and unlock the Platinum trophy with minimal hassle.

Overview of Phantom Blade Zero Trophy Guide

  • Estimated trophy difficulty: 4/10
  • Approximate amount of time to platinum: 40 to 45 hours
  • Trophies: 36 – 1 Platinum, 3 Gold, 14 Silver, 18 Bronze
  • Is There Missable Trophies?: Yes.
  • Is There Free-Roam?: Yes, after defeating the final boss, you can go back to previous regions and keep exploring. Keep in mind that there’s a lot of missable sidequests/bosses.
  • Is NG+ available already?: Yes. After starting a new cycle, you carry over your skills, weapons, phantom edges and more. Keep in mind that you won’t be able to use Phantom Edges related to exploration. You can only use them after collecting them again.

Congratulations, you mastered Phantom Blade Zero and collected every trophy!

Automatic story trophy.

This trophy is missable.

To make the true ending available, you will need to complete every quest of the game that has a purple sword icon. Every quest gets marked on the map. They are:

  • Deep in the Valley
  • Illusion of Inanis
  • Sha-Chi Powered Boat
  • Allure of Vanity
  • Illusory Pipa
  • Pillars of Kunlun
  • Whence the Weeping
  • The Herald’s Illusion
  • Crimson Manor
  • Secrets at the Heart of the Lake
  • Bloodline Awakening

Location: Near the Outpost Bell in the Weeping Creek Valley

Axemaster Peng Meng will be your first big challenge in the game. Parry his attacks at the right time to drain his stamina faster, and be aggressive while equipped with the Jagged Steel to build bleed status on him.

Location: Near the Valley Sha-Chi Tower Base Bell in the Weeping Creek Valley

Hua, the Bride, is a hidden boss located below the Sha-Chi Tower Base. Go behind the structure in the center, near a device that asks for a crane, to find a passage leading underneath. Follow the path until you reach Hua, the Bride.

Hua is very fast, and she spams red flowers that act as bombs; if you get hit by them, you will most certainly die in one hit. She also spams flowers on the ground that make you slower.

To make this fight easier, stay aggressive and stay mobile. Keep dashing with the R1 button to avoid the slow fields and, most importantly, the red flowers. Sometimes she also casts white flowers, but you can parry/block them.

Location: Near Waterfall Bridge in the Weeping Creek Valley

If you defeat Hua, the Bride boss, before facing the Hunt, it will be much easier. The reason is that the Bride’s weapon, the Scarlet Wraithblade, is very powerful against him.

The Scarlet Wraithblade’s triangle combos leave Red Spider Lilies on the ground, slowing enemies and continuously draining their Sha-Chi (the stamina meter).

Other than that, be very aggressive and stay close to him; it will be easier to interrupt his attacks. He’s very mobile, and his attacks have an insane range due to his chains. It’s imperial to reduce the distance from him.

Oh, the Hunt will be your first boss with a second phase. Thankfully, the game has a checkpoint system for bosses, and you won’t need to face his first phase again.

Location: Near Pangzhen Bridge Overlook bell in Crimson Forest

Hua Qianxiao is a very fast boss who can give you a lot of trouble. He’s very mobile, and his combos are long, making it easy to drain the Soul Shi-Cha bar quickly if you don’t time the parry right.

Thankfully, he’s kinda weak to the Bleed Effect, so be very aggressive and use the Jagged Steel to punish him often. Sometimes, he will start drinking and cast a blue shield. As soon as he starts the animation, use the Dread Axe Phantom Edge to break the shield (remember to equip the Shieldbreaker Talisman before the fight), then throw down a lot of triangle combos with your main weapon.

Upgrade your Jagged Steel to at least Level 5 because of the Blood Blade perk. It will increase the bleed effect status.

Location: Near Threadbound Great Tree in Crimson Forest

Bai Chillian is a very annoying boss because she’s very mobile and she keeps vanishing. Punish her with Jagged Steel to build bleed. I used a level 10 Outlaw Warblade as a secondary weapon and used the weapon’s special attack to replenish my HP every time I broke her guard. When she spawns the Giant Snakes, run as fast as you can and try to destroy every snake to interrupt her.

Use ranged Phantom Edge skills to keep up the pressure on her, and you will beat her easily.

Location: After you use the lift in the Smuggler Tunnel in the Village of Lu

Mu Xiaokui is the game’s first boss and has 3 phases; thankfull. Thankfully there’s a checkpoint for each. The strategy is the same. Use the Jagged Steel to punish her with the bleeding effect and always keep the pressure.

At the third phase, she will summon two foes to fight for her, don’t overextend your attacks and focus on parrying.

Location: After the Lion Dance Hall Depths bell

Flame, the Lion Dance Grandmaster, is a mandatory boss from the story. This fight is a spectacle, and to make your life easier, I strongly recommend equipping the Flameward accessory you get early in Pangzhen and upgrading it to +1. This will reduce the fire damage taken by 60%.

As a weapon, you can life-steal from him, but it’s very hard to hit his body because of the size of the Lion mask. A great option is the Wild Oriole Sword. If you upgrade it past level 10, it will melt the boss’s stamina meter.

You can find Chief Disciple of the Seven Stars in the Mandate Encampment map. This is a straightforward fight and won’t give you any trouble. Repeat the strategy from the other fights.

Hungxing, the Kunlun Renegade is a optional boss found at Mountain of Imprisonment. This is a straightforward fight and won’t give you any trouble. Repeat the strategy from the other fights.

Puppet Scavenger is an optional boss located in the Crimson Manor side area, located at Weeping Creek Valley region. This is a late game boss. The Puppet Scavenger has a LOT of health, so adjust your loadout to give you more sustain during the fight.

Lei Dang is a mandatory story boss located at Mirage State. This is a late-game boss, so you shouldn’t have any trouble with this fight a

Blizzard Blademaster is an optional boss located in the Phantom Illusionist Ruins area in Meigu Lake. This is one of the toughest bosses in the game.

Use Blazing Edge as a main weapon to keep the burn effect on him, and also use Fire Meteor Phantom Edge to cause a lot of damage as well.

The Saw and the Crusher is a mandatory story boss located at Mount Soulrend. This big boy has a lot of health, so adjust your loadout to give you sustain during the fight. Focus on hitting his smaller leg to increase your damage output.

Meng Hua is a mandatory story boss. This fight is surprisingly straightforward. Remember to stay mobile to avoid her area attacks, and you won’t have any trouble.

Blackwater Leader You Loong – Location: Meigu Lake

This boss is very straightforward, but this fight is a bit annoying because he keeps getting underwater.

One-Eyed Archer – Location: Near the One-Eyed Isle Dock in Meigu Lake

This boss is very tough; he’s highly mobile, has powerful attacks, and uses many ranged attacks that deal a lot of damage. By the halfway point, he even starts using area attacks. I use a Level 24 Wild Oriole Sword as my main weapon to cause damage and melt his guard bar. For a secondary weapon, I used the Outlaw Warblade, but I only used it when the L2 was ready so I could refill my health.

For this trophy, you will need to defeat the Four Great Puppets.

  • Yuzan: Mandatory story boss located at Village of Lu.
  • Yubi: Optional boss located at Mandate Encampment.
  • Yuding: Mandatory story boss located at Mirage Estate.
  • Yucong: This is a boss from Triple Threat side quest. You can start this quest in the game’s first region, but it doesn’t end until near the endgame, when the Crimson Forest map changes.

Zhu Yuan – Location: Going down the elevator in the Sha-Chi Tower at Mengu Lake.

This boss hits very hard, and each one of his attacks stacks a lot of fire effects. Equip the Flameward+1 accessory and dodge constantly to cleanse the effect.

Bi Feng – Location: Mountain of Imprisonment

Use Blazing Edge and destroy him with the L1 + Triangle combo.

Cavalrybane – Location: Near the Huang Manor Crossroads Bell

This boss uses a spear and hits hard but his attacks are very easy to parry if you use the accessory Reflex Device +2. For weapon, i used the Outlaw Warblade to give me health sustain during the entire battle.

Soulclaimer – Location: On your way to the docks in Pengzhu (mandatory story path)

This boss is very simple, his attacks are easy to parry and he won’t give you any trouble.

Heartpiecer – Location: On your way to the last snake house in Meigu Lake (mandatory story path)

This boss is very agressive, so, parry his attacks to break his guard bar and be on the advantage.

You will need to interact with 4 scarecrows and defeat the Acolytes. The locations of the scarecrows get marked on the map.

Acolyte Yanru

Don’t even bother parrying in this fight, focus on dodging. I used the Outlaw Warblade and its lifesteal perk let me defeat this acolyte easily.

Acolyte Lei Ting

Use the accessory that grants you defense against Thunder otherwise this will be a tough fight.

Acolyte Guhe

The only way to beat this boss is using Preservation Jar+1 to reduce the poison damage you receive and to equip the Medicine Green Serpent Brew to cleanse your poison status. His attacks are very easy to parry, but he casts illusions of himself, making your life harder.

Acolyte Hansui

Found at Crimson Manor. Smash him with Blazing Edge.

To complete Bloodline Awakening, you will need to enter 5 Lóng Pillars and defeat the boss inside each one. Pay attention to the hint given in the pop up, since every fight has a gimmick.

All the Pillars locations gets marked on the map.

You will get this sidequest in the bridge with two woman before you arrive at the Thieves Camp in Crimson Forest. Do not progress until you speak with them and receiving the quest.

After this, proceed until you reach the Cliffside Lodge Bell in the Crimson Forest and collect the Crimson Forest Cellar Crank. Use the crank to unlock the cellar entrance and head inside.

Drop onto the wooden plank positioned between the two platforms and pick up the Crimson Forest Secret Chamber Crank. Continue descending to the lowest level of the cellar.

Use the Crimson Forest Secret Chamber Crank to unlock the sealed door, then speak with the girl inside. Next, travel to The Confinement Bell in the Mandate Encampment and defeat Wu Lengshuang, the Soft Sword.

Important: Don’t proceed with the main quest there. Make it your priority to do the side quest first. If you face the final boss in this zone before facing the side quest boss, you will fail the quest.

After the fight, follow the path forward and inspect the body lying among the flowers. Once the body has been examined, proceed through the Mandate Encampment and complete the area as normal. Defeat Yubi, No. 21 Swordfighter Puppet and watch the cutscene.

You will get this sidequest from Old Man Gen at his hideout at the start of the Village of Lu. There’s a bell there. He will ask you to clean the Smuggler’s Tunnel and return to him.

Old Man Gen’s Hideout location:

After you clean the tunnel, go back to him, and he will give you the key to his house in Pangzhen’s backstreets. You will need to go to the house to learn about his wife’s whereabouts. You will need the Flame Mane Phantom Edge to access the path to his house. You will obtain it automatically during the story.

Use the image below as a reference; you will need to go from south to north to reach the Old Man’s house. The map marks the Flame Mane spot that you can burn.

When you reach the house, interact with this wife to receive the Comb and return to Old Man Gen to complete the quest and receive the trophy.

You will find Lan Shaodi at the beginning of the Village of Lu, a bit after the Crossroads Bell. Check the picture below:

He will ask you to clear the Smuggler Tunnel so he can move to Pangzhen. After this, go back and speak with him. He will then ask you to meet him at his mansion in Pangzhen.

Speak with him at the entrance of his mansion; he will give you a key, and the game itself will tell you to rest in a bell. Do it and go back to the mansion. After the dialogue, the quest will be completed, and the trophy will pop.

This quest starts in Weeping Creek Valley, near the Valley Sha-Chi Tower Summit. You will find a Shadow Warden there who will ask you to find a Primal Stone for him. With the Crank in your hands, go to the base of the tower, go behind it, and use the Crank on the device to open a small door and collect the Primal Stone.

Return the stone to the NPC, and he says he will meet you again. The next step in this quest happens on the Meigu Lake map. You will meet the Friendly Shadow Warden at the Pangzhen Sha-Chi Tower Summit. Speak with him, and he will ask for another Primal Stone. The stone is in this tower.

Go to the boat, circle the tower, and enter through the Pangzhen Sha-Chi Tower Dock. Go through the obvious path until you reach Pangzhen Sha-Chi Tower Lower Exterior. You will see a bridge with two enemies. Follow that path, and you’ll eventually find the second Primal Stone.

Go back to the Friendly Shadow Warden, give him the Stone, and the quest will update, saying you will meet him again. After you complete Mirage Estate zone, Crimson Forest map will change.

Go to the area with the frozen lake and proceed until the third and final Sha-Chi Tower. The Shadow Warden will be at the top again and will ask for another Primal Stone. The stone is pretty much at the same place as the second tower. The path to the stone is very straightforward.

Flesh Lily, Apprentice Healer, and A Healer’s Mercy are quests given by the same NPC, Yu’er. You will find her at Weeping Creek Valley. She moves to new places as you progress through the campaign. To make the trophy pop, you will need to complete the three side quests in a single run. If you miss any sidequests, you will need to do it in NG+ and redo the three quests.

Flesh Lily sidequest:

This quest has many steps. It starts in Weeping Creek Valley. She will ask you to find a special flower. Hua, the Bride, guards this flower. Defeat the Bride, grab the flower, and return it to Yu’er.

After this, she will ask you to meet her at Pangzhen. The main story will take you to Yu’er’s house, and this quest will be completed there.

Apprentice Healer:

In this quest, Yu’er will ask you to gather three herbs. They are all marked on the map. Collect all 3 and return to her to complete this side quest and receive a Medicine.

A Healer’s Mercy:

After interacting with Thieves’ Camp Bell in the Crimson Forest, Yu’er will show up near a tent. Speak with her and choose the second dialogue option to get this sidequest. She will ask you to deliver medicine to some thieves; their locations will be marked on the map.

You will first meet Quickhand Zhang at the Crimson Forest map, right after you defeat the boss Hua Qianxiao. He will be trapped in a cage, and you will need to go through a nearby cave to the upper side, activate the crank, and lower Zhang. After you free him, he will ask you to meet him in a cave nearby.
