The release date for Night School Studio’s highly anticipated Oxenfree II: Lost Signals has leaked ahead of its official reveal.
The news comes from PlayStation Game Size on Twitter, a fairly reputable insider who has correctly predicted release dates for major titles in the past. According to the leaker, Oxenfree II will be arriving on July 12.
The reveal was corroborated by a new gameplay trailer which was posted to PlayStation Store. The trailer was quickly removed but was saved by users and can be viewed online. We’re introduced to the new duo of Riley and Jacob as they explore Edwards Island which is now seemingly home to portals to the past and different timelines.
The game was originally announced back in 2021 with plans in place to release the game later that year before it was hit with a delay. The game was moved to a 2022 release date but received yet another delay with a release window of 2023 in order to “make Oxenfree II truly special and add more localisations” according to Night School.
Fans are understandably wary of the potential release dates for Oxenfree II but there’s an element of cautious optimism surrounding this new release date which appears to be far more concrete.
Oxenfree II will pick up five years after the events of the original game and once again focus on the town of Camena. The game will feature a new, older protagonist, Riley who returns to the town in search of purpose. Night School has previously described the game as a coming-of-age story. There’s sure to be an official reveal surrounding the release date of Oxenfree II imminently.
