Overwatch’s “Anran” Set for Redesign After Community Backlash

Overwatch developers have confirmed that “Anran” will be redesigned following heavy community feedback.

For those unaware, the voice actor for Anran, Fareeha, recently addressed the character’s design, stating that she wanted to address the ‘elephant in the room’ without stepping on the developers’ toes and insinuating that the new design falls into the ‘Ozempic Chic‘ category. The developers have now responded to this feedback.

Overwatch Anran Redesign Confirmed

Through a new video by the official Overwatch X account (formerly Twitter), the game director Aaron Keller confirmed that a redesign for Anran is in the works. The development team is currently discussing “what it will take to make Anran look and feel more like the fierce older sister” she was envisioned to be. The design update should arrive by season 1, but the developers don’t yet have concrete details on what will change.

Overwatch is coming with some big changes for Season 1, introducing 5 new heroes, including Anran. The developers are also introducing new sub-roles for the core roles, including Bruiser, Initiator, Stalwart, Sharpshooter, Flanker, Specialist, Recon, Tactician, Medic, and Survivor. Check out this guide to learn everything you need to know about all the new content coming to Overwatch season 1.

In other news, the Switch 2 edition of Overwatch will arrive in Spring 2026. Additionally, the game is dropping the ‘2’ and launching the year-long reign of the Talon Story arc.
