Nvidia RTX 50 Series Leaks Reveal Memory And Power Totals

The announcement of the next-generation Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards are still some time away, but we may have new information of what people can expect thanks to new leaks.

According to known leaker eXtas1s, the company’s flagship RTX 5090 graphics card will feature 32GB GDDR7 memory with a TGP of 600W. The upper-mid range RTX 5080 will have 16GB of GDDR7 memory and a TGP of 400W.

For comparison purposes, the RTX 4090 has a TGP of 450W while the RTX 4080 has a TGP of 320W.

More details, including a full reveal of the RTX 50 Series graphics cards are expected to come at, or around, CES 2025 in January.

These are the first set of leaks for the upcoming lineup of graphics cards. Earlier in September it was also reported that the RTX 50 Series would consume more power than the previous generation. ExTas1s claim seems to corroborate that information. It was also first reported in July that the next set of cards wouldn’t come until 2025.

Insider Gaming has reached out to Nvidia for comment on the leaks, but no response was received as of publishing.

I suspect they won't pull 600W for the 5090 or 400W for the 5080. Suspect they're for reasons and be able to refresh them without much difficulties with a RTX 50 refresh against RDNA 5 in say early 2026.

At this rate the 6000 series is going to be like a refrigerator and require your PC to be wired into a dedicated circuit.

I'm more interested in some announcement of a new technology or evolution of DLSS than in the graphics cards themselves. And if they do, I hope it's not exclusive to the 50 series. For me personally Frame Generation was a game changer.

I mean RTX 50/Blackwell is rumoured to have big changes to the Tensor cores with DLSS 4.0 and it'll be an even bigger emphasis on Ray/Path-Tracing.

It's the future, a 2028 PS6 will have a huge focus on it with UNDA 1 IMV.

what makes me laugh is more power has never been the issue. a 3050 still can play most games. This issue is with these games that are not polished enough to work out the gate. we need more optimization before another next big tech, yes to push rtx, frame gen, and the latest tech you need a 40 series but what games are actually using all this power - Alan Wake 2 and Cyberpunk - I just cant justify upgrading to a 50 series

I currently use a 3080FTW and this thing gets super hot! Anyone feel that I should upgrade for power consumption alone?
