Nintendo, Xbox, And Sony Skipping E3 2023, Report Says

It appears as though Nintendo, Xbox, and Sony will be skipping E3 2023.

According to a report by IGN, the three big players in the gaming industry won’t be a part of the event this year. The news comes less than a week after it was revealed that Xbox will still be holding an event in Los Angeles this summer around the start of E3.

Regarding Nintendo and Sony, it’s unclear, per the report, if either company will hold an event around the annual showcase. IGN did get a statement from the company producing this year’s E3, ReedPop, on the report.

The promoter says that no exhibitor contracts were sent until January, and that it has spent the time since taking on the contract for the event working on ways to “create a new type of E3”.

“We have received a tremendous amount of interest and verbal commitments from many of the biggest companies in the industry,” says ReedPop, “and when we are ready to announce the exhibitors we are confident it will be a lineup that will make the trip to Los Angeles well worth it for the industry and consumers alike.”

E3 2023 is the first in-person show since 2019. Running from June 13-16, E3 2023 takes place at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Last year’s show was canceled entirely due to the continuing Covid-19 pandemic. Prior to that, E3 was held as a digital-only event in 2021 and cancelled outright in 2020.

Insider Gaming has reached out to all three parties for comment on IGN’s report. Should a response be received, the story will be updated accordingly.

What do you think of Xbox, Sony, and Nintendo skipping E3 2023 this year?
