The prototype designs for the Nintendo Switch 2 have seemingly leaked online. First appearing on Chinese social media before making their way to Reddit, the images give a look at what could be the upcoming Nintendo Switch successor.
Based on the leaked design, the Nintendo Switch 2 will have a larger screen, new magnetic Joy-Cons, and multiple USB-C ports. It’s general look will remain similar to the original Switch. It will also carry over the back stand design from the Switch OLED model compared to the small kickstand look of the base Switch.
With the aforementioned Joy-Cons, the images show that the way the attach will be different than the original. It also seems to support the earlier rumors of addition buttons on the back of each controller.
What About Nintendo Switch 2 Specs?
In addition to the general design, some specs of the Nintendo Switch 2 have also allegedly been leaked. The Switch 2 will featured 12GB of RAM, HDMI 2.1 support, and even 256GB of internal storage. The system supporting HDMI 2.1 seems to back up earlier claims that the console will support 4K resolution in some capacity.
It’s important to note that Insider Gaming has not been able to independently verify the legitimacy of the Nintendo Switch 2 design images. Until we can, or something is made official, the images and reported specs should still be taken with a grain of salt.
Nintendo has yet to respond to requests for comment on the design leak. It’s unlikely they will, however. They are expected to reveal the console sometime later this year with a 2025 launch. If you want to see the images of the leaked design, you can do so below.
