It’s been eight years since the original the Nintendo Switch was revealed to fans. Now it’s time for the world to get a full look at its successor, the Nintendo Switch 2 with a special Nintendo Direct presentation.
The event will last around 60 minutes in total and feature a full look at the console, its features, release plans, and even launch games. One game many expected to be revealed was the next Mario Kart title, and it was with Mario Kart World. There were also a number of surprises, including a new 3D Donkey Kong Game.
The console will launch on June 5 for $449.99.
The show began at 9am ET/6am PT on Wednesday and was updated throughout. That means all of the announcements below is listed in the order they appeared.

Everything Announced At The Nintendo Switch 2 Nintendo Direct
Mario Kart World
Nintendo kicked off the show with its latest installment of the Mario Kart franchise, Mario Kart World. The game will launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. It features a free roam, 24-player races, and rolling starts. The game will launch on the same day as the Nintendo Switch 2.

The C Is For Chatting
Nintendo has lifted the veil off the mysterious “C” button. The new “GameChat” button will allow players to chat with other players online through the console for the first time. This seemingly removes the need for the third-party app that online players of the original Nintendo Switch required. It also allows for screen sharing between players.
Using GameChat requires Nintendo Switch Online.

Nintendo Switch 2 Game Share
Nintendo Switch 2 allows players to share games and play select games together without the need for multiple copies.
Nintendo Switch 2’s Features
The company gave an overview of the console’s features, and it’s a big list. New features include 4K HDR support, 120 FPS, Joy-Cons that can be used as mice, multiple USB-C ports, and more.
Release Date
The Nintendo Switch 2 will launch on June 5.
Switch 2 Enhanced Games
Games like Super Mario Party Jamboree will received Nintendo Switch 2 enhancements for the new console. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will support 4K and 1080p. It will also support the mouse functionality of the new Joy-Con.
If you own the Nintendo Switch version of a game, you can pay a smaller price to upgrade to the Switch 2 version.

More Third-Party Games
A number of big third-party games are also coming to Nintendo Switch 2, including: Hades 2, Elden Ring, Street Fighter 6, Split Fiction, Madden NFL, EA Sports FC, Hogwarts Legacy, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, Hitman: World of Assassination, Project 007, Bravely Default, and Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut
GameCube Games
Nintendo Switch Online is getting Nintendo GameCube games exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. Launch games include Legend of Zelda: Windwaker, Soul Calibur 2, F-Zero GX with online multiplayer
2K Games Makes Its Presence
It was confirmed that Borderlands 4 will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 later this year. Also coming to the console is Civilization 7 on the same day as the Switch 2. Lastly, both WWE 2K and NBA 2K are coming to the new console.
Cyberpunk 2077
CD Projekt Red announced that Cyberpunk 2077 on the same date as the console’s release.
Silksong
Still coming in 2025…supposedly.

FromSoftware’s The Duskbloods
A new exclusive souls-like game from FromSoftware called The Duskbloods is coming to Switch 2 in 2026.

Kirby Air Riders
A new Kirby racer is coming to Nintendo Switch 2.

D…K….DONKEY KONG
A new 3D Donkey Kong game is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 called Donkey Kong Bananza is launching July 17, 2025.
