In the latest figures to be uploaded online, Nintendo has revealed that, as of the end of September, the Nintendo Switch 2 has sold 10.3 million units, and a further 20.6 million units of software. The figures also confirmed that the original Nintendo Switch has hit 154 million units sold, bringing the console very close to breaking the record held by the PlayStation 2 at 160.6 million units.
The original Nintendo Switch is extremely close to surpassing the lifetime sales of the Nintendo DS, and has already beaten the Wii and Game Boy.
And The Best is Yet to Come?
Nintendo Switch 2 has arguably not entered the holiday purchasing season yet. Black Friday (month) is ongoing as we speak, and then Cyber Monday follows. After that, it’s all about the festive window, and that’s when the Nintendo Switch 2 becomes one of the most wanted Christmas gifts of 2025.
The latest data released by Nintendo has revealed that the Switch 2 has sold 10.3 million units, and that’s as of September 30, so expect that figure to be much higher by now.
In one month, the Nintendo Switch 2 sold six million units, 3.5 million of which landed in the console’s first four days on the market.
In recent Nintendo news, it was confirmed that the company’s anti-Palword patent application was rejected in Japan. It’s not the end of the road, as Nintendo can exercise the option to submit a new application with fresh claims.
