New Pokémon Vercel Fan-Voting Website Has A Shocking Top 10 Rank

A new Pokémon fan-voting website is doing the rounds and the voting so far has provided a surprising look at what the most popular characters in the franchise are.

Pokémon Vercel is collating votes from players on their favourite Pokémon across all nine generations so far, oriented around the theme that every Pokémon is somebody’s favourite.

That has proven to be true, with each of the 1025 Pokémon listed all receiving at least one vote, but the top 10 so far may surprise you.

Pokémon Vercel Has a Surprising Top 10

In total, over 130,000 votes have been cast, but the top 10 is lacking a few names you’d expect to be high, including the likes of Charizard, Pikachu, and Mewtwo.

Instead, the stats show that Mimikyu is at the top of the charts as the community’s favourite Pokémon, ahead of Gengar, Absol, Sylveon, and Bulbasaur in the top five.

Some of those names are certainly eye-catching, but perhaps more surprising is some of the others making up the top 10, as the popular trio of Lucario, Arcanine, and Eevee are joined by Chandelure and Mawile.

While I can think of a few friends whose favourite Pokémon are in the top 10, I can’t think of anyone who has Chandelure or Mawile at the top of their list.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, Iron Treads, Quaxwell, Gossifleur, Tapu Bulu, and Tornadous are the five Pokémon who are floating at the bottom of the list.

Personally, I’m glad to see Sandshrew and Sandslash getting some love, but I can’t quite believe that Raichu is more popular than Pikachu, and over 70 people have voted Rattata as their favourite Pokémon.

Each to their own, I guess, and it will be interesting to see how things develop.
