New Need For Speed Could Already Be In Development

Need for Speed Unbound may have just been released late last year, but Criterion already seems to be working on the next installment of the series. According to a recent job posting, a new Need for Speed may already be in development.

“With a proud history working on beloved franchises including Battlefield, Star Wars Battlefront and Burnout, we’re now challenging the conventions of the racing genre to take the Need For Speed franchise to the next level,” the posting says.

The specific job listing is for a “World Artist” that will “help us on our new and exciting endeavour to create an open world offering the player a fast, visceral and authentic experience.”

Should Criterion be working on the next Need for Speed, it would be the fifth game in the series the studio has developed. Its first was Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit back in 2010. Prior to working on the franchise, the studio was responsible for the popular Burnout series.

Its latest, the aforementioned Need for Speed Unbound, is available now for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.

  • If Criterion New need for speed anything like Unbound, Heat,Payback, 2012 Mostwanted, 2013 Rivals. If this New NFS game anything like those forget about it I’ll past with Joy.

  • Open World games are Extremely Boring!!! you doing nothing but driving around, no chase, no challenges.

  • They need to make a new need for speed hot pursuit. There’s only a few need for speed games I enjoyed and they were need for speed most wanted 2004 version need for speed the run and need for speed hot pursuit

Oh crap…here goes another open world idea for the upcoming NFS game project. It’s so disappointing for the NFS franchise, but one can hope to find a good racing game that’s not NFS these days.
