It’s been a jam-packed week for Call of Duty fans, with Call of Duty’s #CODNEXT event revealing details on Modern Warfare 2, Warzone 2.0, and Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, and Modern Warfare 2 DMZ.
Modern Warfare 2’s DMZ mode has been rumored for almost a year, with my first report on the mode coming in November 2012 via VGC.
Almost all of the details have now been officially revealed, including the official confirmation that the DMZ will be an extraction-based gamemode that takes place on the Warzone 2.0 map.
The DMZ is officially described as a “sandbox experience” that will go live as Warzone 2.0 launches on November 16th, 2022 as a free-to-play experience. DMZ gameplay will take place on the Warzone 2.0 map called “Al Mazrah”.
Infinity Ward has said that more details will be revealed on the DMZ at a later date, but it has been confirmed via an interview with The Washington Post that the DMZ will support up to 100 players, which is far more than previous leaks implied.
Not much else has been stated about the DMZ, apart from the fact that the experience seems to share almost everything we’re getting with Warzone 2.0 So it’s more of a waiting game to see what else Infinity Ward has to offer.
