Microsoft Reveals the Xbox Mastercard

The majority of people reading this will have a debit or credit card. We’ve all got bills to pay and purchases we want to make. But what if those purchases would help with buying new games and DLC add-ons? Microsoft’s latest collaboration could be the answer as Xbox has partnered with Barclays to release the Xbox Mastercard.

Beginning on September 21, Microsoft is partnering with Barclays to release the Xbox Mastercard in all 50 United States for Xbox Insider members, with a full roll-out coming in 2024. The card will work just like any other credit card, but you will earn points which can then be redeemed for a variety of gaming perks. You will be able to use the points towards purchases at Xbox.com to buy the latest games and add-on content.

Users of the Xbox Mastercard will earn 1 point for every $1 spent using the card, with 1 point having a $0.01 value, meaning for every $100 you spend you will earn $1 to spend on games. You will also be able to earn extra points by using the cards on specific products and services, including 5x points for purchases on the Microsoft Store, 3x points for subscribing to eligible streaming services including Netflix and Disney, and 3x points for using dining delivery services including Grubhub and DoorDash.

Xbox Mastercard owners will also receive 5,000 bonus points ($50 value) after making their first purchase, along with three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The card comes in five different designs and has no annual fees to use, making it a perfect choice for Xbox gamers to have even for just when they’re using any of the services that grant bonus points.

This new collaboration brings a lot of value to the Xbox community and we hope to see the collaboration expand beyond the United States in the future.
