Marvel’s Avengers is attempting to go out with a final hurrah in its newest update which makes “nearly all paid” cosmetics free.
That means all costumes inspired by the MCU and the Avenger’s 60-year-long history in Marvel comics will be automatically available in the players’ hero cards. Along with cosmetic skins, emotes, takedowns, and nameplates have also been unlocked and can be accessed without an internet connection.
With the cosmetic marketplace closing, all existing credits will be converted into in-game resources and items that can be used by players. Any items that are earned through the campaign or purchased from the Cosmetic Vendor must still be accessed the same way.
Crystal Dynamics are also offering a final thank you to players who have stuck with the game with a special Founders Gift that will unlock access to Iron Man’s Variable Threat Response Battle Suit.
The full patch notes can be found in a very bittersweet blog post on the game’s site which includes one last farewell from Ms. Marvel’s voice actress Sandra Saad. In the video Saad thanks players for their support of the game, reflecting on the development process and her relationship with her co-star Brian George.
Marvel’s Avengers has had a rocky journey filled with ups and downs ever since it launched in 2020 and its never quite been able to live up to its full potential. All official support for the game will be ending on September 30, 2023, although players will still be able to play with friends online and play through the campaign. Any bugs or errors encountered will not be addressed after that date.
Are you disappointed to see support end for Marvel’s Avengers with this final update?
