Marvel Rivals Roadmap Reveals New Launch Details

Marvel Rivals developers Netease recently released a roadmap that outlines what to expect from the title when it releases on December 6, 2024. The roadmap covers several topics, including seasonal content, monetisation, support and more.

Marvel Rivals Will Introduce 33 Heroes in Season 0

The Marvel Rivals Roadmap was revealed by the Creative Director of the game, Guangguang. Starting with the seasonal roadmap, on December 6, players can enter the game with Season 0, dubbed ‘Doom’s Rise’. Season 0 will only last for a month, and the developers will introduce 33 heroes to the roster during that time. Additionally, there will be eight maps for quick match and competitive modes, one conquest map and one new practice range for players to check out.

Doom’s Rise Details

Marvel Rivals Roadmap announcement also gives us some context on what ‘Doom’s Rise’ will be about. Season 0’s narrative will focus on Doom unleashing the Timestream Entanglement through his experiments, which leads to the development of 4 new Chronoverses. These include the Techno-Dystopia of 2099, Present: Evil Strikes, Mosaic Timeline: Unstable Space-Time, and Collapsing Timeline: Even the Gods Die.

These 4 Chronoverses will result in the convergence of futures, pasts and alternate realities that will be “woven into” Marvel Rivals’ “ever-evolving narrative”.

Marvel Rivals Roadmap also confirmed that Season 1 will launch in early January 2025 and act as the framework for all future full seasons. Each season will feature new content, heroes, maps, team-up abilities, and potentially new game modes. Each full season will last around three months, and the developers are “already laying the groundwork for next year.”

Monetisation, Support and Other Details

One of the biggest questions from the community is how monetisation will work in Marvel Rivals, and the roadmap announcement provides the answer. The Marvel Rival’s Creative Director has confirmed that “there will be no ‘pay-to-win’ schemes” in the game. The launch battle pass will only include costumes and cosmetic goodies, that will include outfits from the comics, MCU and their original creations. Additionally, since Season 0 is only a month-long, it will only contain half the content of a complete battle pass and will be “priced accordingly”.

The Marvel Rivals Roadmap announcement also revealed that the developers are committed to maintaining a 60 server tick rate and are expanding their server region for a better experience. Regarding support, the game will include full voice-over support for three languages: English, Chinese, and Japanese, as well as text support for sixteen languages.

In other news, employees at Netase were recently arrested for money laundering. Also, check out the PS5 Pro enhancements for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. What are your thoughts on the Marvel Rivals Roadmap? Let us know in the comments or our new community forum!
