In a new post on X today, Mario+Rabbids veteran Davide Soliani announced they are leaving Ubisoft after 25 years.
Soliani thanked the “incredible community of players,” and explained they left Ubisoft “to embark on a new adventure.” At this time, they did not elaborate on the details of their plans.
Soliani served as the creative director on Mario+ Rabbids Kingdom Battle and the most recent Mario+ Rabbids Sparks of Hope.
Overall, Soliani worked on the Mario+Rabbids series for 11 years. Gaming fans might also recognize Soliani for their tender moment at the 2017 E3 event.
Ubisoft promptly replied to Soliani via X, with “best wishes for the worlds you’ll journey through next.” Soliani worked at Ubisoft Milan in Italy. Although many fans are disappointed by his exit, there is excited support for Soliani and their future projects.
Mario+Rabbids Kingdom Battle first launched in 2017, while Sparks of Hope released in 2022.
Just weeks ago, Nintendo also briefly offered a free trial of Mario+Rabbids Sparks of Hope for Nintendo Switch Online users. Years later, Sparks of Hope still maintains strong ratings on Metacritic, currently boasting a 7.5 user score.
Mario fans can still look forward to Super Mario Party Jamboree, and pre-orders are available now. During the latest Nintendo Direct showcase, Nintnedo also announced Mario & Luigi Brothership for November 7, 2024.
