The Nintendo Switch 2 doesn’t launch for a little over a month, but that hasn’t stopped someone from already beating The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the new console.
First spotted by Nintendo Insider, Japanese YouTuber Ikaboze beat the game during the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience in Tokyo. To complete the run during his limited 20-minute time limit with the game, Ikaboze “used an autosave situated outside Hyrule Castle, ditched his equipment and sped into the ruined structure to vanquish Calamity Ganon, the scourge of Hyrule Castle, and hatred and malice incarnate, Dark Beast Ganon.”
Him making it through the game means that Ikaboze is the first player to defeat Ganon in the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. At least, he’s the first player to be recorded completing the game.
Like many original Switch games coming to the new system, the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of the game will offer various enhancements. For Breath of the Wild, specifically, those enhancements include:
- Improved performance in higher resolution
- HDR support on compatible displays
- Compatible with Zelda Notes via the Nintendo Switch App
Breath of the Wild’s Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and the upgrade will be available alongside the release of the console itself on June 5, 2025.
