Journalist Has “Seen Footage of Fallout 3 Remake”

It feels like we’ve been waiting for the Fallout 3 Remake as long as it took for the original game to come out. Rumors keep teasing it, and a respected journalist claims they’ve seen footage of a Fallour 3 project in development, but it’s unclear if it is an official one.

There’s not enough Jet in the world to authentically instill the feeling of pure ecstasy if Fallout 3 is announced again, either in remake or remaster form.

March 2026 saw Fallout 3 remastered rumors resurface, and we’ve been waiting for it to be revealed…to no avail.

“I Have Seen Footage of a Fallout 3 Remake”

On a July 7 edition of The Jeff Gerstmann Show (episode 213 on YouTube), Gerstmann was asked about the existence of a Fallout 3 Remake.

Gerstmann was a former editorial director at GameSpot and co-founder of the popular Giant Bomb brand.

He’s a long-time and well-respected member in the game’s journalism space, and had this to say about a potential project:

“Bethesda would not do a Fallout Remake themselves. In fact, someone else has put in a quite a lot of work into a Fallout 3 Remake that has yet to officially materalize, and I don’t even know if that game is, I assume that that is still happening, but maybe it is dead. Who can say?

But I have seen footage of a Fallout 3 Remake, so someone, somewhere, made something. So, hey, we’ll see.”

Obviously, Gerstmann is keeping it vague, given the project may never see the light of day. However, it should be pointed out that he never strictly states it’s an official remake.

It could merely be a fan-made remake.

We’re no strangers to these, with Fallout: Siege of New Vegas, Fallout: Chicago, and Fallout: The New West being other notable examples.

It has come to light that an Avowed sequel has been canceled as Obsidian focuses on a new Fallout game. So, it could mean they are working on the Fallout 3 Remake? Or the wait for something official goes on.

Check out 1:43:20 for Gerstmann’s thoughts on the game and what he’s seen.

Is the dream dead? Are we ever getting a reimagining of Fallout 3 in one way, shape, or another? Let us know via the official Insider Gaming Discord Server.
