XDefiant is supposed to be the next best thing being introduced to the competitive first-person shooter scene. It has been in development for a few years, being built from the ground up by Ubisoft and featuring the creative talents of professional Call of Duty competitors. But, is XDefiant on console, or is it just another PC-exclusive game that Xbox and PlayStation players won’t ever get to enjoy?
Let’s find out.
Is XDefiant PC Only?
XDefiant looks great at first blush. It’s reminiscent of an old-school Call of Duty title, boasting fast movement, near-future technology, and a more ‘arcade’ kind of feel. It’s certainly a competitor to Call of Duty’s success, especially as it’s being developed partly by COD esports legends, but what’s the base nature of the game? On what platforms is it going to release?
Well, if you’re trying to figure out how to play the XDefiant beta, you’ll be pleased to figure out that it’s available on Xbox and PlayStation – as well as PC.
So, it’s an obvious question at this point, but is XDefiant on console? Yes, it absolutely is – it’ll be available on Xbox and PlayStation consoles for both the testing phases and the full release, whenever that may be.

However, it should be stressed that it’s only on new generation consoles – that means PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms. If you’re on Xbox One or PlayStation 4, then perhaps it’s time to upgrade – especially if you want to learn how to play XDefiant.
Early playtests of XDefiant have proven to be remarkably positive, with the first-person shooter community praising the title for its pacing and back-to-basics gameplay. With opinions imploding over the state of Call of Duty, a fresh injection in the form of XDefiant could be just what the industry needs.
