When you have what Ubisoft is touting as the ultimate open-world, single-player Star Wars title—a first-of-its-kind video game—then people have expectations. Sometimes, those expectations prove unrealistic, of course. But what many want to know is whether Star Wars Outlaws is multiplayer?
Can You Play Star Wars Outlaws Multiplayer or Co-op?
Unfortunately, there is no multiplayer in Star Wars Outlaws whatsoever. You cannot play online PvP against other players, nor is there a cooperative game mode. It’s a single-player, story-driven Star Wars experience from start to finish, with the player taking on the role of Kay Vess—a female thief. That said, you do wind up with a partner, Nix, who can help you tackle various challenges in the game.
Nix appears rather useful. You can order the fuzzy alien to disable lights, distract enemies, and sneak through tight obstacles to activate switches that open doors. Without Nix, moving through the environment would likely feel cumbersome.
Yeah, I know! A sidekick isn’t exactly what you had in mind regarding a partner in Star Wars Outlaws. Trust me, I would rather have some form of multiplayer, too. But a single-player story game has its place in the world!

If You Want Multiplayer Star Wars…
Then, I highly recommend you pick up Star Wars Battlefront 2. Despite the initial reception, it has risen through the ranks to become one of the best multiplayer Star Wars titles available today. I don’t often have time to play old titles, but when I do, I enjoy hopping in for a round or two of Battlefront 2. It often goes on sale, too, making it an absolute steal.
It may not be open-world multiplayer in Star Wars that so many dream about, especially following Star Wars Galaxies, but it’s still an entertaining experience!
With such a massive IP, it makes complete sense that Ubisoft would invest so much marketing money into Star Wars Outlaws!
