One of the most thrilling reveals from the Xbox Games Showcase—and there were many—was Doom: The Dark Ages. It launches sometime in 2025, and features everyone’s favorite Doom Guy but sent back in time to medieval ages. But more importantly, is Doom: The Dark Ages on PS5?
Can You Play Doom: The Dark Ages on PS5?
Alongside PC and Xbox Series X|S, Phil Spencer confirms Doom: The Dark Ages will launch simultaneously on PlayStation 5. Their goal, specifically id Software, is to ensure the first-person shooter franchise remains available to all players, no matter their system.
On the topic, Spencer said:
DOOM is definitely one of those franchises that has a history of so many platforms… It’s a franchise that I think everyone deserves to play. When I was in a meeting with Marty a couple years ago, I asked Marty what he wanted to do, and he said he wanted to sell it on all platforms. Simple as that.”
It’s becoming less necessary to own a specific console to play your favorite titles. This decision will likely have repercussions on the industry, but it’s still early days.
