Xbox Game Pass continues to be a standard-bearer for gaming subscription services. With Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ AAA status set to make the RPG one of the biggest titles in 2025, Ubisoft’s Japanese-set game can receive a massive boost if it partners with Microsoft for Game Pass.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been unable to stay out of the news since its announcement. Its launch has dillydallied because of countless delays, it’s courting controversy even now because of its graphic content, and Ubisoft has had to address leaked gameplay.
Shadows pre-orders are still extremely strong despite this. With a lot of players intent on playing the sequel, others are reluctant to pay full price. If that’s the case, let me tell you if you can get it for free as part of Xbox Game Pass.
Can You Play Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Xbox Game Pass?

Xbox Game Pass is not including Assassin’s Creed Shadows once the RPG title launches on March 20.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a big one. So much so it’s foregoing the Game Pass conversation and standing on its own two feet. If you want to play Shadows, you must buy one of its multiple physical or digital editions.
I’ve indicated Shadows has a strong pre-order foundation already, meaning a Game Pass crossover probably isn’t necessary. Don’t be surprised to see Assassin’s Creed Shadows sell millions of copies.
Will Assassin’s Creed Shadows Come to Game Pass?
There’s a good chance Assassin’s Creed Shadows comes to Xbox Game Pass much later on—but don’t count on the eagle landing anytime soon.
A bit of a classic Assassin’s Creed joke there—sorry. But if you are hopefully of Shadows coming to Game Pass, it’s not impossible. I can tell you the whole reboot trilogy is currently on Game Pass—Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. These represent three of the four most recent Assasin’s Creed releases.
Mirage is conspicuous by its absence, but it’s still promising nonetheless. This article will be updated if we hear more about Shadows coming to Game Pass either now or further in the timeline.
