Following cost-cutting measures by Take-Two Interactive, the CEO of the firm, Strauss Zelnick, denied that Intercept Games – the developer behind Kerbal Space Program 2 – had closed down. However, he refused to comment on whether Take-Two Interactive would shut down Intercept Games – among other studios.
Now, posts on social media have surfaced claiming that the team at Intercept Games will be made redundant as of June 28, 2024. Weeks ago, Bloomberg obtained documentation showing that Take-Two was proposing the closure of the Roll7 studio – but these notes didn’t mention Intercept.
‘Here We Go Again’
In a post on LinkedIn, Intercept’s Quinn Duffy posted the following:
‘Well, here we go again.
The team at Intercept Games will be laid off as of June 28th so a great group will be out and about looking for their new roles. As will I.
I got to know the designers pretty well in my all-too-brief time there. These are some fantastically smart and talented people and I’m happy to vouch for their qualities. And I can say the same about the other disciplines – good folks across the board.
Kerbal Space Program 2 is a delightful game, deeply engrossing, and incredibly pretty even in its early-access state and I hope you have a chance to check it out.’
In 2020, Take-Two Interactive opened Intercept Games in Seattle, Washington. The team was tasked with assuming the development of Kerbal Space Program 2, which has since been review-bombed on Steam following the news of the studio closure. It boasts a recent review rating of ‘Overwhelmingly Negative’ with most comments referring to the laying off of the team by Take-Two Interactive.
This is the latest in a long line of shutdowns in the industry that have led to almost 20,000 workers being made redundant since the start of 2023.

It’s not review bombing, they’re legitimate complaints. The game has been abandoned in the early access stage and anyone that bought the game is rightfully upset. The game is currently buggy, missing promised features and wont’ be finished. It deserves a negative rating.
