Battlestate Games has revealed that ICEBREAKER, the long-awaited 1.5 update, is headed to Escape from Tarkov tomorrow, May 25. The arrival of the all-new map, boss, mechanics, and more comes after months of teasers, trailers, and discussions from Battlestate Games.
This is the largest update to hit Escape from Tarkov since the 1.0 update landed in November, alongside the full launch of this pioneering extraction shooter. Fans have been wondering when ICEBREAKER will land in Tarkov, but they don’t have long to wait.
It’s here tomorrow.
Battlestate Fully Unveils ICEBREAKER
ICEBREAKER is the name of the new Escape from Tarkov map, built to allow players to explore a nuclear-powered ship far from the city of Tarkov. It’s the first-ever out-of-map experience for Escape from Tarkov, broadening the game’s horizons, but it also adds a new boss, fresh mechanics, and new ways to play.
For instance, in ICEBREAKER, players will contend with new kinds of door locks, fresh exfiltration methods, and tighter quarters than they’ve ever fought in before. The new boss, ‘Wedge’, has been teased by Nikita Buyanov, but apart from his sick drip, we don’t know what he’ll bring to the table.
In May, the Battlestate team released a short trailer to showcase ICEBREAKER:
While Battlestate Games hasn’t confirmed anything else about the 1.5 update, we know that the game will be going offline from 8 AM BST / 3 AM EST, and it’ll be offline for at least four to six hours.
Escape from Tarkov will go offline tomorrow for several hours while Battlestate Games deploys the 1.5 update. Are you looking forward to ICEBREAKER? Let us know your thoughts on the Insider Gaming Discord server.
