The ability to rent Counter-Strike 2 skins has only been around for a short time, at least when compared to the game’s long history. Renting skins in CS2 is a way for players to max out their inventory with skins for almost every weapon, even if it’s just for a short time.
But how do you rent skins in Counter-Strike 2?
How to Rent Counter-Strike 2 Skins
In order to rent skins in Counter-Strike 2, you will need to purchase a key to open the case you’re trying to rent from. Keys can be purchased from the Steam market, and you can also click on a case in your inventory to be linked directly to the listing for that case’s key. While cases range in price on the Steam market, all keys are the same price: $2.49 USD.
Once you purchase the key, select the case from your inventory. There should now be an additional option to rent all the skins in the case, except for the Exceedingly Rare Item for seven days. Knife and glove skins are not included when renting skins from a case. Once you open your rental case, a new tab in your inventory titled Rentals will appear, which shows all the skins you are currently renting.
When Valve first introduced the practice of renting skins, it only worked for the Kilowatt case release back in February 2024. But as of the November 27, 2024 update, the ability to rent from all CS2 and CS:GO cases was added to the game.
Rented skins cannot be modified (so no stickers or charms), traded, or sold. All rental skins expire at the end of the rental period, regardless if they are all used or not.
