There are various forms of currency in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, though you’ll primarily use Gil to purchase items and weapons. But one unique form of currency, Golden Plumes, allows you to buy upgrades and cosmetic items for your Chocobo mounts. Here is how to get Golden Plumes in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth!
Where to Get Golden Plumes in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
You’ll receive Golden Plumes in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth by taming wild Chocobo in every region and unlocking additional Chocobo Stops throughout the game world. The latter is more straightforward, as you’ll find plenty of Stops during your travels. You can also rest at each to regain Health Points and Magicka Points. To discover the Chocobo Stops, keep an eye out for baby Chocobo. They’ll lead the way!
But each time you partake in the Chocobo-catching minigame, like the one for Bill’s Chocobo Ranch in the Grasslands, you’ll receive a handful of Golden Plumes. For instance, when catching Piko, you’ll receive two.

What to Buy With Golden Plumes
The first Tack Shop in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth you’ll stumble into is at Bill’s Chocobo Ranch, run by his granddaughter Chloe. It’s a small shop in the back of the barn, and she’ll happily trade Golden Plumes in exchange for various pieces of cosmetic armor for your Chocobo. The items available to you in the beginning include:
- Shinra Avaian Helmet
- Shinra Avian Breastplate
- Shinra Avian Greaves
Each piece costs 2 Golden Plumes, so choose wisely for your first one!
