Can You Have Companions in Starfield?
Firstly, yes – you can have companions in Starfield, and they’re made up of a mix of human and robot-based compatriates. It has been confirmed that there are four core romance options, so if you’ve been wondering whether you can romance companions in Starfield, you’re in luck.
It was revealed in an August Q&A with Bethesda Game Studios that there are ‘over 20 named characters’ that serve as ‘recruitable companions’ in Starfield. They’re able to join your crew and they offer various buffs and benefits to your character.
For instance, it was stressed that there will be a marksman character that’ll protect you endlessly, and that there would be an ‘astrodynamics expert’ that will enable your jump pack to be that much more effective.

They all have their own unique skills and abilities, and handcrafted backstories littered with lore. It was stressed that four of these companions will be from Constellation, which is arguably the game’s most important faction, while all the others will be picked up on your travels.
