Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 looks set to be one of the most awarded and acclaimed games of 2025. The earliest reviews have given the game wonderful scores right off the bat, and what’s more incredible is that it comes from a development studio that has never released a game.

It has been estimated that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 can be beaten in around 30 hours, while completionists will take up to 60 hours to scour the game for all the extras.
This is a solid amount of hours given that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is not an open-world game and instead relies on a linear operating model. It does have a stellar, star-studded narrative that’s ripe for exploration, so there’s that.
It’s refreshing – players are fast become exhausted by RPG-based titles that launch with 200-hour campaigns and gargantuan open-world maps.
Is Clair Obscur Hard?
Those 30 hours that have been estimated for the core story in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 might be expanded a little based on the game’s difficulty. It has been determined that Clair Obscur is a pretty challenging game, especially as you get stuck into the story.
Eventually, you’ll be managing multi-faceted fights with diverse enemies, controlling a team of combatants and trying desperately to stay alive against the odds. The turn-based mechanics are off-putting for some, but Sandfall Interactive has tweaked a classic formula and introduced unique elements that make the combat much more enjoyable for those who dislike turn-based fighting.
